Let’s get together this queer hangout in the deep of winter to share our stories and thoughts about love and loss. We’re going to hold space together and talk all about heartbreak, be that with your partner, lovers, friends, family or parts of your life that you’ve had to let go of. It could be about your first breakup, or the worst/best breakup or letting go of things as your path changes.  Let’s get into healing processes, what radical grieving looks like and how mourning together can mean resistance – what does moving away from self-care and into collective care mean? How can we care for each other when our hearts are broken?

We’ll have supplies at the space to create a piece (writing, drawings, collages, songs etc..) about your feelings or stories on heartbreak, loss, radical grieving and we’ll put them all into a zine to take home at the end of the hangout! Share your stories and let’s talk about ways to heal or just have a cathartic moment of getting to be heard. No pressure to participate in the zine making, if you would prefer to create something just for you.

It’ll be a low stress pot luck so feel free to bring a snack!

Rebellious Mourning edited by Cindy Milstein

“We can bear almost anything when it is worked through collectively. Grief is generally thought of as something personal and insular, but when we publicly share loss and pain, we lessen the power of the forces that debilitate us, while at the same time building the humane social practices that alleviate suffering and improve quality of life for everyone”
