Radstorm Building Purchase Celebration!

We have some terrific news about our campaign to buy 2177 Gottingen St. We have recently received a very generous donation from an individual donor that will make it possible for us to purchase the building! This donor, Dr. Bob Fredrickson, is a local hero within the queer community, having been the primary care doctor for most HIV/AIDS patients in Halifax in the first decades of the epidemic, and then went on to be a resource for trans health. We are honoured to receive such a large donation from such a respected community member.

We invite you to celebrate the purchase of the Radstorm Building with us on Sunday, May 25 from 1-5pm at RadStorm. There will be tours of the building, food, music, screenprinting demos, and more! This is also a chance for us to celebrate all of the people who made this possible.

We want to thank everyone who supported us in our campaign to own our forever home. We would never have been able to achieve this dream without the support from our community, including Dr. Bob Fredrickson, our investors in the community bonds campaign, the contribution from the HRM, RadStorm members who worked so hard to make this happen, and RadStorm’s incredibly supportive building owners, Walter & Mary Schlech. As a space that exists for and because of our community, we’re immensely grateful for the incredible support that helped make this moment possible. Now let’s celebrate!

RADSTORM IS FUNDRAISING TO BUY OUR BUILDING!

PLEASE DONATE ON OUR ONLINE FUNDRAZR!
Radstorm Forever

Radstorm, and the various collectives it houses, have moved around Halifax’s North End several times throughout the last decade. The time and energy that goes into finding a new location, arranging the logistics, moving, and setting up all over again equates to countless hours. The idea of having a permanent home for Radstorm to grow and allow us to take those countless hours of volunteer time and energy into improving our space and our offerings, rather than tearing down and starting again- it means so much, to so many of us.

Buying this building will allow us to continue to offer community space and resources that are meant to be shared with everyone. Let’s buy the Radstorm building, together! RADSTORM FOREVER <3

OPEN VIEWING of RADSTORM on GOTTINGEN ST!

Radstorm is moving to 2177 Gottingen Street! Before we get set-up and moved-in we want to show the space to everyone and get some input on what you’d like to see happen!

We are looking to collaborate with other people and groups (especially in the gottingen street neighbourhood) to make radstorm a place that feels relevant and useful to the community we are joining.

Drop by between 1-3pm on Sat Sept 22nd to get a tour, chat with radstorm members, add your input on what you’d like to see happen in the new space, and learn how to get involved!

Maybe you need a place to host meetings or events? Or have an idea for a project but just need a space? We’d love to hear your ideas!

We will have an all-ages music venue, practice space, screenprinting studio, zine library, photocopier, kitchen, meeting/hangout space, sewing area, ceramics kiln, plus more…..

If you aren’t able to make it, but want to get involved, email radstormhalifax@gmail.com.

Access note: There is one step to get in the front door which is around 6 inches high. We will be building a ramp, but it may not be finished by the date of this event.

WE HAVE A NEW HOME!!!

Radstorm is moving to Gottingen Street! We will be spending the month of September moving into our new space, and then opening in October! The new space is located at 2177 Gottingen Street (across the street from Plan B & Menz/Mollyz). It is much bigger than our current space on Almon St, has a physically accessible ground floor & washroom, and we are so excited for all the possibilities! We plan on having an open house / town hall meeting in September to talk about what we should do with the extra space and include more people in the planning process. The building is for sale and the owner’s have agreed to a year lease so we have some time to raise the funds to purchase it. We will need lots of help! Stay tuned for more info about the open house, moving, getting involved, and fundraising to buy a building so we have a permanent space! WOWOOOWOOT!
