Let’s talk about the medical industrial complex and its effects on the 2SLGBTQIA community. From the intersex people who have been forced into non-consensual surgeries and hormone therapies, to the Trans people jumping through hurdles to access those same interventions (or to have their gender recognized without medical intervention), and to innumerable other members of the community struggling to access safer sex information and reproductive health care appropriate to their bodies— we have all been subject to erasure and oppression by a system that acts to impose a narrow concept of what a body is supposed to be.
At this Queer hang we want to hear your stories and hold space for the vulnerability it takes to talk about these kinds of experiences, especially for those Queer black and indigenous POC whose voices are often unfairly excluded from these discussions. For those who cannot attend but would still like to participate, feel free to send in a letter or direct message, and we can read your stories with a pseudonym.
We will create posters together that can be put around the community. Tea and coffee will be at the space and feel free to bring a shareable treat!
